Bioesthetic Dentistry

Bioesthetic Dentistry

When many people think of the dentist, they immediately think of cosmetic procedures that are solely aimed at improving the appearance General Smile of your smile, but dentists who are also concerned with the operation of the mouth and jaw study a brand of dentistry called bioesthetics . It is a whole approach to caring for your smile, including its appearance and function. An experienced bioesthetics dentist can help you to have your best smile possible, as well as avoid future dental problems.
Bioesthetic dentistry is based on the premise that your “chewing system” is key to ensuring long-term dental health and function. The chewing system includes the teeth, muscles, position of the jaw, and the way that you bite down or hold your teeth together. Experts believe that when this “system” is disrupted or functioning poorly, it will eventually lead to a myriad of possible dental and even medical problems.
The Benefits of Bioesthetic Dentistry
There are a number of benefits of going to a dentist who is well-versed in bioesthetics. Having your chewing system evaluated can help you avoid the following issues:
  • Broken and chipped teeth
  • Bruxism (grinding or clenching while sleeping)
  • TMJ disorder
  • Migraine headaches
  • Discomfort when eating
  • Tooth sensitivity
And, of course, bioesthetic dentistry can also give you a smile that you can be proud of flashing at every opportunity.
Getting Evaluated
A skilled dentist will perform a number of tests and evaluations to determine if your chewing system is poorly designed and in need of restorative work. Here are just a few:
  • X-rays of the jaw, teeth, and sinuses
  • Photographs of the face and teeth to check jaw alignment
  • Dental impressions to examine the shape and position of the teeth
  • Wax paper tests (you’re asked to bite down on a piece of special paper) to show how your teeth come together
Your treatment plan will be determined based on the results of these tests. It may include crowns, braces, reshaping the teeth or adding dental implants.

What Our Clients Say About Us

    Very friendly and Helpful

I recently moved here from Green Bay where I had the same dentist for many years. He set the standard high for tooth care. We searched around this area and talked to patients from several dental offices to see what they had to say. The comments about Dr. Jamie at Two Rivers Family Dental were very good so we decided to give them a try. I came in with necessary dental work needing to be done and the normal amount of anxiety with it. I am happy to say we, "nailed it" with our choice. Dr. Jamie and her assistant Laurie could not be more thorough, personal and educational as she proceeds which helps me relax (somewhat-along with a little laughing gas)! The office from the minute you walk in till you leave is very friendly and helpful if I have any questions. She met the standard we were used to and I recommend her to everyone!!
